The main character of the novel being ‘Siddhartha’, being the same name of the buddha before his enlightenment, may have been used by the author to bring a symbolic connotation to the search of Truth. XDĪ beautiful inspirational classic and Definitely worth reading again. So this book is very Buddhist in nature and has a ton of Indian spiritual themes. Novel is set in the time of the Buddha in ancient India (possibly around 2500 years ago)with the quest of a young brahman’s search of truth, life, equanimity and freedom from the cycle. Nietzsche’s nihilism and human suffering, consumerist hedonism, eastern spiritual search of enlightenment, dark night of the soul, nonduality(OM) are many of the countless philosophical discussions throughout the plot. But this book goes much deeper in to various philosophical discourses within. It’s also much like “The Alchemist “by Paulo Coelho in my opinion. This is a novel with a story of a young man’s search for enlightenment and truth. I suppose this work contains a lot allegories to the life of the author himself. If you have experience with Hesse’s other works, be sure to leave some thoughts. I have not yet read other books by the author but have seen a lot of positive reviews towards Hesse’s work.

Full of insights, metaphors ,wisdom and hidden lessons for life. This is one of the best novels I have read this entire year so far.
